Berry Gord accepted Stevie Wonder's request for greater freedom and control of his creativity over his music. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher royalty and full creative control. He also had the rights to create his own songs , something that very few artists could have in the era of. The agreement also allowed Wonder's songs as well as videos to talk about controversial subjects such as war, poverty,drugs and politics. The album released in 1972, Music Of My Mind was the first to be released under his new MoTown contract. Talking Book, Stevie Wonder's 1972 album, is a significant moment in the history of rock music. The album included Superstition the most popular hit song.
